Can I sell 9ct gold in Ascot if it is only one small piece?
Yes. 9ct is the gold in most British jewellery boxes, stamped 375 inside the ring or on the clasp, and a single chain, a lone earring or a ring that had to be cut off is well worth bringing in. Bent, broken or tangled makes no difference, because 9ct is bought on its weight, and yellow, white and rose gold all count the same. Do you buy gold coins as well as jewellery?
Yes - sovereigns and half sovereigns most often, along with Krugerrands, Britannias and the occasional older European coin. Common dates are bought on their gold content at the rate we pay that day. A scarcer date, a branch mintmark or a proof coin still in its Royal Mint box is priced as a coin, which can be a good deal more. One request: please do not clean them first, because polishing takes the collector value off a coin for good.
Do you buy diamond rings and engagement rings, or only the gold?
We buy the whole ring. The stones are priced on their size and quality and the mount on its gold or platinum, so a diamond ring is never simply weighed. Bring the certificate, the receipt or the box if you still have them, as they help, though we see plenty of rings that arrive with nothing at all. Engagement rings from a marriage that has ended are among the things we are asked about most, and they are handled as quietly as everything else here.
Is a jewellery valuation in Ascot free, and what do I get in writing?
It is free, whether or not you go on to sell. You leave with our offer in writing, each piece listed with the price we would pay, valid for 24 hours. It helps to know what that figure is: a selling valuation, meaning what a buyer will actually pay you today. That is normally well below an insurance replacement value, so it is not the document an insurer asks for, but it is the honest answer to what your jewellery is worth if you sell it.
Can I leave the Ascot office with cash for gold?
For smaller amounts, yes, and it is counted out at the table. Do you value racing brooches and presentation pieces?
Yes - these are a particular speciality given our proximity to the racecourse. Provenance matters for these pieces, so bring any documentation, presentation cases, or photographs of the original event if available. We'll often price these above pure metal-and-stone value where the history can be substantiated.
Can you visit me in Wentworth or Sunningdale?
Yes - by appointment, with identification on arrival and written acknowledgement before any piece leaves your hand. Private home visits are routine for clients in the gated estates.
Where exactly are you in Ascot?
We are on St George's Lane, just off Ascot High Street - a 7-10 minute walk from Ascot station and a few minutes from the racecourse. The full address and parking details arrive when you confirm an appointment. Race-week traffic around Ascot can be busy, so during Royal Ascot we suggest leaving a little extra time.

Genuine provenance - presentation cases, original receipts, named recipients - adds materially to value. We are very familiar with race-week pieces and price them on full evidence rather than weight alone.
