Selling Gold & Jewellery - Marlow & Henley

Specialists for the Thames-Side Towns

The river towns hold a particular kind of collection - regatta and rowing presentation pieces, Art Deco jewellery from long-held riverside houses, modern watches bought on City careers. Our Ascot office is around twenty-five minutes from both Marlow and Henley, and we handle valuations for the riverside the way the riverside expects: privately, unhurried and in writing.

Why Marlow & Henley clients choose us

A specialist conversation, not a transaction

  • Fluent in regatta and rowing pieces

Henley produces presentation jewellery like nowhere else in the country - regatta medals, rowing trophies, enamelled club brooches, engraved cases from decades of race weeks. These are priced on provenance and collector demand, never melted-weight, and we are one of the few houses nearby that treats them accordingly.

  • Riverside houses, generational jewellery

From Medmenham to Remenham, the riverside holds long-established family homes - and their jewellery boxes: Edwardian and Art Deco pieces, old-cut diamond rings, signed brooches. We value period pieces against current auction results and say plainly when something would do better under the hammer.

  • Discretion suited to small towns

Marlow and Henley are places where people know each other. Our appointments are private by design - at our Ascot office or your own home, never across a shop counter. Nothing about the conversation is visible from the street.

How it works for Marlow & Henley clients

Three ways to engage with us

  • 1. Private appointment in Ascot

A twenty-five minute drive from either town. Confidential, by name, with a single specialist - and a written figure that stands whether you decide today or next month.

  • 2. Home visit along the river

By appointment from Bourne End to Fawley - often the right call for collections, period pieces or anywhere parking makes carrying jewellery awkward. Identification on arrival, written acknowledgement throughout.

  • 3. Insured postal valuation

Royal Mail Special Delivery from Marlow or Henley post office arrives next working day, tracked and insured up to £20,000. We call with a figure the day it lands.

Marlow & Henley - Frequently Asked

Local questions, answered

  • Are regatta medals and rowing trophies actually worth anything?

Often considerably more than their metal. Named, dated pieces with documented regatta history have a genuine collector market - especially pre-war and Olympic-connected items. Bring any programmes, photographs or letters that anchor the story; provenance is most of the value.

  • We are selling a parent’s jewellery from a house in Henley - where do we start?

With a home visit, usually. We go through everything at the house, piece by piece, explain what carries value and why, and leave a written breakdown with no charge and no obligation. Where a piece would genuinely do better at auction, we say so - period pieces deserve that honesty.

  • Can we meet somewhere other than the house or your office?

For higher-value pieces we keep valuations to our office or a private home visit - it protects both sides and keeps the conversation off the high street. We also hold private valuation days across the area; current dates are on our booking page.

  • How do you price an Art Deco ring against a modern one?

Differently, and that matters. A period ring with old-cut stones is valued as a period piece - cut, platform, maker and condition against current auction results - not as raw materials awaiting a re-cut. The same stone weight can carry a very different figure depending on the era, and we price to the stronger basis.
